The Integrated Quality Management System (iQMS) for UiTM is an amalgamation of the following:
- Quality Assurance and Enhancement Policy (QAEP)
- Quality Management System – Requirements MS ISO 9001:2015
- Guide on Compliance Evaluation for Self-Accreditation Universities (GCESAU)
- Code of Practice for Programme Accreditation (COPPA)
- Standard Program for all levels of study from undergraduate to postgraduate
With the integration of the two, UiTM is leveraging the MS ISO 9001:2015 as an accepted quality management system standard worldwide and GCESAU as the series of guidelines and codes of practice for higher education with SWA status in Malaysia.
The scope of QMS implementation includes the following provisions - research, teaching and learning, services and community engagement, and sustainability - depending on the area of concentration of the Responsibility Centre.
Future Work on the Integrated Quality Management System
In anticipation of and as preparation for the future, InQKA is strengthening its reviewing and auditing capability and capacity to meet future demands and enhance its quality assurance services based on the university's recent transformation. To embrace the ISO 9001:2015, the university through InQKA is actively training the People in Quality (PIQ) on GCESAU and ISO 9000 since the IQMS beginning in 2016.
The new version of ISO 9001 contains some changes that include managing and accessing risk, opportunity and change, the organization's context, and knowledge documented information.
Due to the maturity of all QMS in UiTM, the top management made a strategic decision in 2010 to remove the scaffolding on the QMS of all faculties and campuses in the likes of the ISO 9001 external certification. This action is not only a savings to the university but provides a further challenge to the respective Chief Quality Officer (i.e. Deans and Rectors) to ensure that their respective organization (PTJ) continually improve, remain strong and be sustainable.
The QMS is now enhanced by establishing a review process, a Self-Review by the PTJ itself and a peer review (InQKA External Review) conducted by InQKA. The criteria for these reviews are the Guide on Compliance Evaluation for Self-Accreditation Universities (GCESAU) and Code of Practice for Programme Accreditation (COPPA) requirements from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
The self-review exercise is an important activity in the quality assurance process in UiTM. It draws upon all reviews in the system, including a review of the QMS. It enables the PTJ to reflect on its priorities and activities and thereby assure itself and its stakeholders that policies, systems and processes for the development, maintenance and enhancement of quality are functioning effectively. Areas of strength and excellence and areas in need of focused attention for improvement can be identified through the self-reviews. An output of the self-review would include recommendations for improvements or enhancements to policies, processes, programmes, services, facilities, and human resources. Findings of the Self Review are recorded in the Self Review Report (SRR) of the PTJ, which provides a foundation for the InQKA External Review. The review by InQKA validates the self-review findings and conclusions and ultimately evaluates the robustness of the PTJ's quality assurance function.

Guide on Compliance Evaluation for Self-Accreditation Universities (GCESAU) was developed to assist institutions to enhance to quality provisions through self-review, internal assessment processes and the external audit conducted by the MQA (Swa Accreditation Visit).
