Introduction

The Accreditation Section under the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) is responsible for ensuring that the quality assurance program offered at UiTM meets the quality standards and complies with the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) further fulfilling the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Application for programme accreditation through two application processes: 

  1. Provisional Accreditation (PA) is an endorsement of assurance that the specific programme fulfils the minimum requirement for it to be offered. This level is connected to seeking approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to conduct the new programme.
  2. Full Accreditation (FA) is a conferment to denote that the teaching, learning and all other related activities of a programme has met all the criteria and standards set for that purpose and in compliance with the MQF. It is done before the graduation of the first cohort.

UiTM: Self-Accreditation Status

               

  1. The Certificate of Self-Accreditation Status for UiTM has been conferred by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) on 2 January 2017.
  2. The Self-Accreditation Status does not exclude programmes accredited by the Institution complying with the MQF, COPPA, COPIA, Programme Discipline Standards and Guide to Good Practice.
  3. The Self-Accreditation Status shall not cover professional programmes which require accreditation and recognition from the relevant professional bodies.
  4. The Self-Accreditation Status is limited to programmes oversees by the Senate and conducted on campus. It does not involve programme offered by a partner institution through collaboration or by subsidiary company owned by the university.
  5. Benefits:
    1. Allows UiTM to execute Academic Programme Accreditation (non-professional programmes) internally following all the requirement and good practices without through MQA
    2. UiTM can reduce the cost of accreditation application for each of the programme offered.
    3. Portray good image to the society and stakeholders that the academic quality is assured and maintained.

The program evaluation covers all nine area as stipulated in COPPA. Also, the IQA uses the quality documents developed by MQA as a guideline and a reference point for evaluation.

PROVISIONAL ACCREDITATION APPLICATION

In submitting the application for PROVISIONAL accreditation, faculty needs to provide IQA with the followings:

  1. MQA-01 document
  2. A copy of approval letter for MOHE or other relevant authority
  3. Fee as listed in the table below

  4. A sample scroll of first cohort
  5. Academic calendar
  6. Fee as listed in the table below

Deemed Accredited Program

Deemed accredited program is a program which is offered by a university prior to 1 November 2007 (i.e. before the establishment of MQA) which has been recognised by the Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA).

MQA circular dated 1 August 2017 requires all deemed accredited programs to be evaluated for full accreditation.

 

DEEMED ACCREDITED PROGRAM LISTING WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL BODY ACCREDITATION

For the purpose of MQR listing, the following information is needed:

  1. MQA_02 document for program not governed by professional body
  2. Date of Commencement of Program
  3. Date of the First Cohort Students Graduated
  4. Details of Approval from the Ministry of Higher Education
  5. Details of Accreditation from JPA

DEEMED ACCREDITED PROGRAM LISTING WITH PROFESSIONAL BODY ACCREDITATION

  1. Fee payment for the registration for MQR listing. Demand draft made payable to ‘Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia’ and a copy of the said Demand Draft.
  2. Fee payment for certificate amount RM 1,000.00. Demand draft made payable to ‘Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia’ and a copy of the said Demand Draft
  3. A copy of the official receipt from the professional body to UiTM as proof of the accreditation fee has been made for each program.
  4. A copy of accreditation letter and accreditation report from professional body.
  5. Latest document submitted to professional body for accreditation
  6. A copy of the certificate of proof of establishment of institution.
  7. A copy of the approval letter to conduct the programme from the Ministry of Higher Education or other relevant authority.
  8. List of students by semester for the course of study.
  9. Academic calendar for the course of study.
