Introduction

The Quality Award was first introduced in 1996 and rebranded to the Vice Chancellor's Quality Award (AKNC) in 2000. It is an annual quality award from the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to the Responsibility Center (PTJ) which successfully implements excellent working quality culture. at UiTM.

AKNC is a model of level based on the Malcolm Baldrige Award (Education) model which is a reference and used by UiTM to highlight the quality culture practiced in each PTJ through reporting the achievements of their respective departments, faculties and campuses.

This model of excellence emphasizes the aspects of leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement and analysis priorities, human resource management and process operations while placing the main focus on the products or services produced by the PTJs involvement.

Unlike the Baldrige Award which evaluates the excellence of organizations and agencies of different entities, AKNC's role is to foster the practice of PTJ quality culture in UiTM through the results and evidence of its implementation.

After more than 20 years of implementation of this award, it is time for AKNC to be improved to track current technological changes in line with UiTM Strategic Plan 2025. Therefore in January 2020, InQKA took the initiative to develop an online platform to manage AKNC implementation. This platform which is based on an integrated online smart information system has been named as i-AKNC (Vice Chancellor’s Intelligent Quality Award).

The development of i-AKNC is an effort to launch the 4P process (Writing, Evaluation, Validation and Awarding) in implementing the process of report writing, report submission, report evaluation, scoring management and awarding in AKNC. In short, all processes implemented will be more systematic, time and cost saving, transparent and secure.

The development of i-AKNC is based on the System Development Life Cycle which involves the planning phase, requirements collection and analysis phase, design phase, programming development phase, testing phase and maintenance phase to produce a quality system. The involvement of stakeholders is highly emphasized throughout the life cycle of i-AKNC.

With the implementation of i-AKNC, it reflects InQKA's ongoing efforts to be committed in strengthening the culture of excellent work quality at UiTM through AKNC's more customer-friendly, efficient and integrity governance
