The main tasks performed by IQA are:
- Academic Programme Evaluation for Accreditation Purposes
- Assessing Curriculum Review Document to ensure compliance to MQA COPPA, MQF and respective MQA programme standard
- Site Visit to New Location to Ensure Programme Educational Resources and Support Services are sufficient and comply to the MQA COPPA, MQF and respective MQA programme standard requirements.
- Facilitates Submission of Accreditation Application to Professional Body and Registration at Malaysian Qualification Register (MQR)
- Evaluate the Capacity and Capability of Partner Institution for Transnational Education

Introduction

Provisional Accreditation (PA) is an endorsement of assurance that the specific programme fulfils the minimum requirement for it to be offered. This level is connected to seeking approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to conduct the new programme.

Full Accreditation (FA) is a conferment to denote that the teaching, learning and all other related activities of a programme has met all the criteria and standards set for that purpose and in compliance with the MQF. It is done before the graduation of the first cohort.

Q1: Where can IQA01, IQA02, IQA03, IQA04, and IQA05 templates be obtained?
A1: Templates for IQA01, IQA02, IQA03, IQA04, and IQA05 are available at https://inqka.uitm.edu.my/index.php/download-1#iqa-documents
Q2: What programmes are needed to apply for Provisional Accreditation (PA)?
A2: All new programmes are required to apply for Provisional Accreditation. Programs applying for the addition of new locations will also need to fill out a Provisional Accreditation application first.
Q3: When do the Provisional Accreditation (PA) application documents need to be submitted?
A3: Provisional Accreditation application documents must be submitted after the new programme is approved by the Preliminary Screening Meeting (MSA).
Q4: Can an academic programme be offered before obtaining accreditation approval?
A4: A programme CANNOT be offered unless Provisional Accreditation is granted.
Q5: Can existing programmes that have obtained Full Accreditation be offered at new locations?
A5: Yes. But new campuses wishing to offer the programme will need to go through a provisional accreditation application, such as a new programme application.
Q6: What documents need to be submitted for an application for additional locations for an academic programme that has been fully accredited?
A6: The College /Faculty/Campus needs to apply for Provisional Accreditation (IQA01).
Q7: Are academic programmes seeking accreditation from professional bodies evaluated by IQA?
A7: IQA does NOT evaluate academic programmes that seek accreditation from professional bodies, but IQA will make the recording, payment of fees, and submission of documents to professional bodies through MQA so that the programme is also listed in the Malaysian Register of Qualifications (MQR).
Q8: When do the Full Accreditation (FA) application documents need to be submitted?
A8: Full Accreditation application documents must be submitted during the first cohort of programmes that have obtained Provisional Accreditation while in their final year of study.
Q9: What should be done if the College/Faculty/Campus wants to change the programme information in the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR)?
A9: The College of Studies/Faculty/Campus needs to fill in form L which is the MQR Update Application Form which can be downloaded from https://inqka.uitm.edu.my/index.php/download-1#iqa-documents and send it to IQA.
Q10: When does an academic programme need to go through the Compliance Audit process?
A10: A Compliance Audit needs to be conducted in the third to fifth year after the academic programme obtains Full Accreditation.
Q11: What should be done if a programme is no longer offered at the location?
A11: The College/Faculty/Campus needs to fill in form K, which is the Program Termination Certificate Form, which can be downloaded from https://inqka.uitm.edu.my/index.php/download-1#iqa-documents by stating the date of the final cohort graduate at the location and submitting the form to IQA along with the MQA accreditation certificate.
